We went to a dog flyball meet today in Redbank. These are the toughest "wildlife" action shots we've ever tried to take. These dogs and their owners are serious competitors.
A flyball team consists of four dogs that run relays one at a time, down to the "box" that holds the tennis ball. They pounce on the box to release the tennis ball (it is spring loaded), then they catapult off of it to complete their relay leg, and then their partner dog does his/her run. All breeds and mutts are eligible. Two teams compete against each other for best times. The height of the hurdles is determined by the height of the smallest team member.
It's a blast!
The first looks REALLY serious!
Fantastic photos, Gregg!! I've never heard of this particular sport, looks super-duper fun.

We photograph shelter dogs for a local animal shelter so they can post on Instagram, Facebook and god know where else...its fun and keeps you shooting all year long. This was a fundraiser for them.

But thats what they are trained to do. Pick the ball out of the box, preferably with all for feet on the box and launch themselves off it...its is truly the need for speed.
Thanks, indoors...fair light... 4.5...800.
