So-- What do you need help with? Perhaps some Utube tutorials might help you enough to begin to understand the manual.

You might check out Steve Perry's videos on the D500. https://backcountrygallery.com/ He's got some good tutorials on the D500 and he's a UHH member.

Good advice rmalarz. Steve Perry also has an excellent download that covers pretty much every setting in the Nikon menu. It cost a few bucks but well worth it.

Some good advice already given but to answer your actual question if you are looking for a book you can hold in your hand, can't go wrong with David Busch's Nikon D500 manual. He is #1 in sales of camera guide books and I find them easy to understand and excellent reference.

I don't have a book recommendation but I have a tip. The video record button to the left and behind the shutter button can be re-programmed to execute Mode. Mode is in the group of four buttons on the top of the camera but it's much more convenient to have it next to the shutter button. I don't shoot video so I re-programmed mine. Also, program My Menu to the Fn2 button. Load My Menu with frequently used items.

All of the advice above is great and I definitely concur. But perhaps if you can elaborate on exactly what problem you are having, what you might not understand, our experts can give you some advice that will make it simpler for you to understand.

Darrel Young's "Mastering the Nikon D500" in print. I found holding the camera and going through each section, while I did what he suggested, really helped me setup & learn my D7100. I refer to his book often and as I used the camera my rote memory kicked in. But it does take time especially for the features that you might not use that often.

I'll second the suggestion of David Busch's books. I'm a sony guy and wouldn't be without his manuals.

You can not go wrong with the Dummies series. They are always very good and informative.

Darrell Young’s “Mastering....” books for specific cameras are my go-to reference for my D90 and D750 and I’m anxiously awaiting his new Z7 book. They travel with me on all my trips together with the specific Nikon manual downloaded on my iPad.
