unwanted emails

I guess this topic has been written about before. But I just wanted to vent my frustration. Is anyone else as frustrated as me?

Every time I "unsubscribe" from an unwanted email, either that same day or the next day, I receive 10 times as much email from the email I unsubscribed from, and it keeps coming, day after day.

I have forwarded these emails to: abuse@unsubscribeme.email with no results.

Does anyone here on the hog have a solution to stop unwanted emails?

I know, one option is to change my email address, which is not an option. And even if I did, spammers would start in on the new email address.

I just put them in spam, and Yahoo takes care of them for me--works better than unsubscribing.

When you "unsubscribing"... you are telling the sender it's a valid e-mail...don't do it...their fishing to scam you.

I spam them on aol. They show up a few times in my spam file and after deleting them out of my spam file aol no longer puts them through at all

I report such unwanted e-mails as spam. My e-mail program then automatically blocks these e-mails.

I don't have aol, Chris. Bummer. But I will call earthlink and see what they have in the way of getting rid of these offensive emails. Thanks for your input.

Just like opting out of robo calls...opt and it seems you get twice as many after opting out

Then your email gets disseminated, or worse (could be downloading nasty stuff)
Just mark them as spam, never "unsubscribe" from a junk email.
Yea, it's a pain in the butt.

If you want to take the time, you can look at the header info, get the location from where it originated, lookup that domain on WhoIs, and forward the email, including the header info, to the abuse contact for the domain.
It takes time to do all of that, and a hassle, but I have had a couple of domains rescinded (cancelled) because I did this.
People probably get domains/hosting, load the spam program, send the spam, and cancel the payment for the domain/hosting. Nasty people out there.

thanks for your answer Longshadow. I can only guess what nasty stuff is. LOL. As soon as I contact earthlink and install spam I will be using that option.

Yes, I have been doing just that. It is really a pain in the ass, though.

I wish I was as savvy as you, Longshadow, in navigating the net. I sure would love to get some of these domains shut off.
