...And blue sky.

More work with the anamorphic lens along with Canon FD 135mm f2.5 SC and the Sony a7. This is one of my favorite sites to shoot. With these, it is strongly advised to download the image.

When these furnaces were in operation there would never haven a time when the sky was so blue at this site.

Fantastic color and clarity. Definitely more impact when they fill my 13" Chromebook screen. Fascinating perspective and aspect! Is the lens already your favorite?

Thank you Linda. I don't know if its my favorite yet but it does offer a unique perspective to whatever your shooting.

That being said it's painful to work with between the weight and the difficulty of composing since the image you see in the viewfinder is compressed horizontally.

Nos. 2 and 6 seem to make best use of the lens compositionally, using two variations of rhythmical composition to lead the eye through the pic.

Thank you Bob; after a bit of googling I see your point.

A couple of things to note: Operation of this site shut down about 1972. But while in operation these furnaces were the constant source of toxins into the environment, and according to local folklore was the site of the deaths of many workers.

These are nice shots. It surprises me that the subject suits the format so well. Also that Mr. Trump hasn't been along and started the plant up again!

Thank you for stopping by and commenting magnetoman. Having walked thru the entire site on several occasions I suspect restarting this site might cost a substantial fraction of DJT's proposed wall.

BTW, I saw a show on the Smithsonian Channel on moving locomotives (by truck) to the English Railway Museum that reminded me of some of your steam locomotive photos.

Thank you Erich. That Canon FD 135mm f2.5 SC is one of the sharpest lenses I own, and shows itself off well in these, shot at f8. (Download #3, hit + and look at the rivets and detail on the skip car ramp.) Very blue north winter sky with red lead paint and rust against it makes for quite a contrast.
