Good morning light, and everything seemed to shimmer in green. This was a good place to sleep and to wake up.
This was about 3 miles upstream of the end of the trail, about 12 miles from actual trailhead where my car was parked. The sense of isolation was really nice, and I didn't see anyone for the next few days.
The big transparency looks good against the sky, when just holding it up to the window with my hand.

It must have been like waking up in another world. Photography is at its best when it shows us things that most of us never get to see for ourselves.
Excellent work, Laurence!
Great image Laurence. Keep your eyes peeled for prehistoric creatures.
Fascinating place, but the photo does not convey what you say you saw for me; it is a bit flat. Dealing with vibrance, saturation, contrast, and tonal values might bring out the aspects you saw.

Larry,
O.M.G.! If we had requirements for particular colors of the visual spectrum the way we do for vitamins and other specific nutrients I suspect that few days in all that green there should lead to serious megenta deficiency (yeah...I know...magenta is not a spectral hue...I’m just sayin’.... )
The only time I had the opportunity to get up into the Olympic rain forest was in the summer of 74..in the midst of a record drought that had exerted a pervasive browning effect.
Thanks for posting this!
I like it a bunch!

When I was there, I was in green shock. Your image brings all that back. It's very "other worldly" to my mind. Simply beautiful.
Seriously green! Whilst not a fan of hitting the clarity slider too hard in landscapes, I think a bit more mid-tone contrast might help provide the depth that's missing here. Or maybe simply more contrast? Worth a fiddle, its a lovely shot.

I often do this in the summer, R.G. That is when our weather is fantastic and mild. I just laid my sleeping bag out on a patch of strong moss that wouldn't be damaged by my just laying on it. No tent needed. I watched the stars wheel above the small openings in the canopy. The morning was wonderful, and a herd of elk was moving through about 200 yards away; I could hear them stomping around.
