You could say these bandits flocked in and stole the show. These are the first Cedar Waxwings to visit this year so I thought some might enjoy seeing them.

Captured with my 5dsr 100-400 mk II @ 400 f5.6 ss 175 iso 250

C+ although the images are very clear, the sun (facing the wrong direction) is hindering the true colors of these bird as you're shooting from nearly behind them. next time, try a different angle or location and attempt this shot again.

For some of us it is take what you can get and be happy. In review I expected the grammar police to correct my set /sit, not a wannabe correcting the sun position. Should they ever return I will share your insight with them and ask them to return when the light is more favorable.

Indeed limeybiker, gorgeous. Turns out this is part of their winter range, but it is the first time 8 years they have honored me with a photo op.

Better not in good light than not at all and most important you saw them with your own eyes and if like me that counts the most and I watch many times without the camera. btw when someone makes really negative comments about my posts without seeming to be helpful, many times I go to their topics to view some of their images. Most of the times they are terrific, but that is not always the case! Take care!

I agree. For me it is capture the subject first, then if time allows recompose, or move, or do whatever is needed to obtain that stunning photo. 2019 is looking to be a banner year with a new species for my life book and Captain Obvious putting on his blocked list.

With Cedar Waxwings you take the shot when you can as they are really flighty Birds and you usually don't have long to take the photo...from experience.
