Not sure your location, but the closest we've seen eagles is north eastern Maryland, Delaware along the Chesapeake bay area. There's more hawks & owls in our back yard. Check out this chart:

In Alaska, go to any dump near a fish cannery and you'll find dozens. While they are predators in the air, they're scavengers on the ground and always ready for a free, effortless dinner.

Just don't pick up any feathers unless you have a federal permit for that specific feather.

The eagle feather law provides many exceptions to federal wildlife laws regarding eagles and other migratory birds to enable Native Americans to continue their traditional spiritual and cultural practices.

Under the current language of the eagle feather law, individuals of certifiable American Indian ancestry enrolled in a federally recognized tribe are legally authorized to obtain eagle feathers. Unauthorized persons found with an eagle or its parts in their possession can be fined up to $250,000.

Same here, Ed Chu, we're in Rockford, IL and we drive about 100-120 miles to get to the Mississippi (Quad City area), sometimes farther if we decide to go south from there...

we are beginning to get a small number of them in eastern KY. I have been following some of them on a local lake here for 4 years now.

Haines, Alaska has an Eagle festival a week before Thanksgiving and most of November and early December there are thousands of eagles that gather for a late salmon run. Great photo ops!
