I have been getting my film done in a place here in Rosamond, but for the last two rolls they have returned the packet back with the photos done, but all the Ners are rolled up in a film can.
I asked them but all they said was that is they it's done now.

are you shooting with an aps camera and aps film? that is the only reason for the negatives to be rolled up in the can. I would get your film developed elsewhere.

I Used to have then do my film, but for the last 2 rolls, the negs where all rolled up and in a plastic film can. when I asked about the negs, all they said was that is the way do do now. So on any more film I'm going to use a outfit that I got the mailing pack for. this store has meet it's end not. this good old 35mm film.

Personally, to get your negatives in a film can may be better than having them cut and inserted in a plastic film holder. If they do a good job of printing and otherwise you are happy they may be doing you a favor. Label the cans and save them in a cool dry place.

Have you tried developing your film the scanning the negatives? Could be a fun thing to do.

The last time I did my own film and back in the days when I was in the ARMY, that's been a long time ago.
As I use the photo shop of the nearby super market and until the last two rolls, that's when they rolled them. So now I'm looking at some online photo outfits to have my film done. so far there is one that seems to do at the printing and care for the negs.

As Grizzly said, they may be doing you a favor, since mailing flat negatives can result in bent, or creased film...not good. A creased negative is a dead negative!

Frankly, I prefer them that way so I san cut them to the length I want, discard culls and use heavy duty binder shuurs for that purpose. As an aside, I used to shoot with a guy who deliberately skipped every other shot; he had his own darkroom. He would then have enough on each side to hold a negative in his printer, and he indexed all of his shots by subject matter and date.

As it stands now I'll have to wait until I can take the bus down to Lancaster to find a place and buy one of those old style photos books that have the carriers for negs along with prints. as there is no such place here in this town.
