I am going to take a tour of Israel next spring so decided to get a better camera. Somehow in my search for info on what I wanted, I happened upon this site and decided to join.
I've been using the one on my phone for a number of years. Due to price considerations and wanting a smaller body I chose a Lumix GX85 with the two bundled lenses. I've got two SLR's that were retired years ago, a Minolta SRt202 which I bought in about 1977 for a trip to Europe and a Minolta 7000 that I got when my parents passed. I look forward to using the mirrorless.
A few things about me. I am happily married for 37 years, have six kids and seven grand kids. I have pastored the same congregation for that last 23 years. My oldest son is also a pastor, my daughter is a writer, I have a son who works for Amazon, another who is a programmer. My youngest daughter plays the upright bass and her husband sits in a named chair in the Cleveland Orchestra. My youngest son is a freshman in college.
My other, more serious hobby is woodworking, where I primarily make pens and bowls. Here is a picture of one of my pen creations. (Taken with my cell phone)

Welcome to the hog Steve. Don't know much about the camera you chose, I shoot Nikon, but I've heard it's a good one.
Nice pen.. I too have made pens and pencils for years. I had a shop Smith which I just sold. I can no longer do as much woodworking as I used to.
Have fun on your trip and post some pics when you get back.

I just got my Shopsmith back from being rebuilt. I haven't been able to turn anything in a month, so I'm looking forward to getting back in the shop.
