I am interested in the fancy-type remote shutters. There are several out there that do different things. Looking for some advice on how-what-where-etc.
Have a Canon 70D
Thanks
Jim.

I purchased an RFN-4 for my Nikon from Amazon. They probably make one for Canon, as well.

Great choice. I have used this one for 7 years without fail. I especially love that the receiver unit needs no batteries as it operates off the cameras power.

Thank you for this reply. I purchased this simply based on price and compatibility. Your comment allows me to feel far better about that choice. Thanks and Merry Christmas.

Be sure to get the radio device and not an infrared devise. The reach out farther and don’t require line of sight. I got a Yongnuo transmitter/receiver pair and it works great. Had to go to YouTube to figure out how to set it up for my TTL flash because the instructions are gibberish.

Owned a Pluto Trigger for several years, and very happy with it, good for all the sensor inputs, intervalometer, etc. it attaches via the data port on my D810 (unique cable depending on camera).

Just bought the Case Air tether, and am playing with that now. Not all the sensors as the Pluto, but as long as you are away from the camera, it would be good to see what you are shooting. They provide multiple cables for pretty much any camera, interfacing through the USB port. Also amazed at the ability to adjust pretty much any camera setting (mode, ISO, WB, shutter speed, aperture, even video).

Since they use different cable ports, I want to test using them together (image on iPad so everyone can see that they are in the picture, shutter release on iPhone because it is small).

You can open the Case Air app on more than one device, but image only on one.

I also like the SMDV RFN-4 for my Nikons. Also, although the receiver for the Nikon uses the camera's battery, you can push a button on the receiver to turn it off and on. Thus, it uses no camera power when you don't need it. Check their web site, http://www.smdv-usa.com/shutter-release.html , for info on other cameras. Receivers models for other cameras may need batteries.

What "different things" do you want the remote to be able to do?

Clever remotes, which includes moving the camera, are from Syrp. I sometimes use the Syrp Genie mini
https://syrp.co/discovery-product/genie-mini/?doing_wp_cron=1545666684.3144030570983886718750 . Reviews are mixed, but I'm please with it's control of both my Nikon and Sony.

The Pluto has all the functions I'm looking for but am wondering if another device has a bigger display and is popular.

Whatever "Trigger/Receiver" set you chose, you must make sure it is compatible with the Speedlight Flash and your Camera, you either own or are about to purchase. Do your research. There are many different degrees of Quality & Prices in these "Trigger/Receiver" sets.

Pluto has no display of itself, relying on your interface device (phone, tablet). It also doesn’t tether to display your image.
