I am having some trouble transferring jpg files to my ipad.
I copy the jpg files to a class 10 sd card into a subfolder that mimics the camera naming convention under the dcim root directory.
When I plug in the sd card to my camera connector device and ipad, the ipad sees only about half of the files.

I am not a big fan of Apple's Photos app. I downloaded an app from the app store called Photo Manager Pro 5 and I think it is a great program app for your photos. You are able to create individual folders for your groups of photos. You simply sync the photos from your computer to your iPad, then move the photos into the folders you have created. There is a small charge for the app, but it is worth it, I am able to go to specific folders rather that looking through all my photos to find a specific photo.

I do all the editing and cleanup of images I need in Photoshop Elements.
I just want to display the images on my ipad because it is most convenient and the display is really beautiful.
I don't understand why the transfer process ignores some files and only sees others.
It's not an attribute, bit depth or size as far as I can see.

So far 0 useful answers. Thus is UHH.

I use an iPad too and I’m wondering why you do all that work? Why don’t you plug the camera Flash card into the iPad (with use of the appropriate dongle)?

What softwares are you using?

Have you quired Apple Support about this?

the images are a small part of my photo collection going back to images I have acquired from as far back as the late 1800s.
they have been scanned in and repaired, my Dad's old Kodachromes, my slides, and more recently jpgs from my first digital cameras.
All that adds up to more than twenty two thousand images.
On those I select a few to tell a story that I want to display on the ipad.
I think there is something embedded in the jpg file that the ipad cannot handle, but don't know what it is.
Looked at the properties of the files deeply and cannot see any differences in bit depth, resolution, pixel dimensions, the file attributes, even my naming conventions.
Can't figure it out.

I use iTunes on my PC. I create a folder on my PC an keep all the photos I want on the iPad in the folder. Connect the iPad. and launch iTunes. iTunes is set to sync the folder on my computer to my iPad. Whenever I add photos to the folder and connect the iPad, it's updated - deleting photos not in the folder, adding any new ones. I do almost daily without a glitch.

I process my files and then start by opening iPhoto. iPhoto isn't useful for much but it does help transfer to the iPad. I create a new album in iPhoto and then move the files I want on the iPad into my new file. Next, plug your iPad into your computer. Then I open iTunes and click on the iPad icon at the top. I click on the photos box and get a drop down menu of all my albums. I put a check in the box next to each album I want to transfer and then hit "sync." Occasionally it refuses to sync and I have to wait until the next day after the computer has shut down and rested (no idea why it sometimes needs this...) but usually it works. I hope this helps. It's not too cumbersome after you do it a couple of times.

I don’t have an answer for why your IPad is only seeing half the files. But my primary method for getting photos from camera to IPad is through ICloud. I manually copy my photos from camera to the hard drive of my Mac. Then any photo that I want to share immediately or see/edit on my IPad gets imported to Apple Photos. Done.

A backup method I have is a dongle that attaches to the IPad that reads SD cards. I only use this when I don’t have access to my Mac. But it works well and I think it was only around $20.

Google!
My phone and tablet are Android. Everything I upload to Google Photos on my laptop automatically appear on both my cell and tablet.
The same happens with photos taken with either...all synced!

I read somewhere that the iPad will only see and copy the first list of photos and you have to scroll the list to get the rest copied to the iPad. Don't know that it helps but Maybe?

I don't know what's going on with your effort, but I wanted to suggest you consider a free DropBox account. Doing so saves space (memory) on your iPad and makes the images available on any device you use. Just a thought.

FYI, I also experienced this problem. I found if I quit IPhoto before synching, it always works.

The free Google photos only keeps a low resolution file. The paid Google cloud service gives you original resolution. I am backed up on Google as well as ICloud and Amazon cloud. I am a bit crazy with my back ups. Although only low res with Google.

If some of those photos are edited psd files, the iPad won’t recognize them.

If you have an iPad, you should also have an iCloud account. You can transfer them to iCloud from your Mac/PC and then see them on your iPad.
