Has anyone tried this software and if so would you like to offer an opinion?

Pixelmator Pro, a photo editing tool for mobile devices, was developed by a group named “UAB Pixelmator Team” not by Apple. Checking the Apple App Store, I see it has an overall rating of 3.8 on a 5 scale. Tho it has some high ratings, it has a large number of low (1s, 2s and 3s) hence its overall middle of the road score. IMO people do most of their photo editing on mobile devices if they don’t have the patience and attention span to master professional tools like Lightroom, Affinity and Luminar. It’s your $4.99, throw it away if you wish.

Pixelmator Pro is constantly issuing updates and fixing what doesn't work plus some improvements. I have several photo editors, however I use them as filters in Photoshop CC 2019 and Pixelmator Pro is one I would not use in Photoshop even though I have it on my MacBook Pro and iMac. It is not an easy learn and is hard to work with. Prior to the Pro version Pixelmator was an easy to work with tool sort of like GIMP. My favorite editors are Photoshop, On1, Luminar, Affinity, Alien Skin 4, DXO Lab 2 and a few others.

Don't tell that to John Paul Caponigro , Follow the link and then select "View Works Here" and the first group up is "land in land"whack was all produced (acquisition, processing, and blending of images) on an iPhone.

IOW, there is some excellent work being done on portable devices.

I happen to be a big iphoneographer and well as DSLR. When my mom went thru chemo she moved in with me... her and her 3 dogs 🤪 I kinda reverted back to an odd creative kid again, I think it helped me deal. I would take walks and using my iPhone I’d take pictures of anything that made me smile or I thought was beautiful. Then I’d edit them on my iPhone. I had apps in folders broken out by function... skin retouching, comic, surrreal, color, etc.... each week I’d download a ton and go through them one by one... keeping only ac few good ones. I should’ve started my own blog and read it each app, but I didn’t. Opportunity lost.

Mobile apps have come a long way in such a short amount of time. They are super easy to learn and often have features that would yake several steps and more time on a desktop. Downside is mobile apps are often not as robust so you might need 2-4 apps to accomplish the things one desktop app can do.

Before HDR became so simple on the iPhone I had a process for creating the 3 separate images and combining them into one, etc and the images turned out really nice.

Some overall adjustment mobile apps to Check out... Snapseed, polarr, darkroom, Lightroom.

I have an iPhoneogrpahy gallery at Flickr.com/photos/pklosterman
If you care to see more. I should say 98% of them at iPhone photos.

FYI Pixlemator is not Apple’s photo editing software.

“Pixelmator is a graphic editor developed for macOS by Lithuanian brothers Saulius and Aidas Dailide, and built upon a combination of open-source and macOS technologies.” Source: Wikipedia

I tried it and my opinion is that you would be well served to try out the demo versions of several different vendor’s softwares before you buy.

PCK ..., interesting story about your Mom moving in and the increased use of the IPHONE usage during walks and etc,.. God bless you .., take care of your Mom ...as for the cell phone use ..., yes it works and is always handy vs carrying a DSLR around wherever you go ...And increasingly.., the photo editing apps have really gotten good and applied to cell phone shots really performs magic ... I still use my IPHONE .., but only as a back up .., as I carry a Samsung Note which IMHO out shoots IPHONE by a wide margin as does their good tablets and I have 3 regular IPADS and 2 IPAD 12.9 1st and 2nd gen IPAD PROS ..,

Enjoy the Holidays with your Mom .., you only get one of those ..., vs ...,you’ll always be able to get better and better cell phones that can take pretty good pics ...

If I had a tablet I might consider using mobile editing software, but my phone screen is too small to consider it. At any rate, I'm not in a hurry for most of my images so I really prefer to sit on my butt at my computer in a comfortable setting to do my editing. I don't like editing on the fly because my attention is not on the editing, but on the shots I'm missing while I'm trying to perfect one of my images.
