I know that Wikipedia isn't taken seriously by some people, but they do provide a huge amount of information to people worldwide. They have a small staff and virtually no income. Occasionally, they ask for a donation. Any Wikipedia page should show you a link to donate.

I use Wikipedia very often and the information is usually good. I donate once a year because I benefit from the service

I think it's a great cause. I remember as a kid, being envious of families that owned a set of encyclopedias. The Wikipedia staff and volunteers help provide a much more extensive version to just about everyone. And work hard to keep it current too. Volunteering work and donating to Wikipedia is well worth it.

I usually donate. Almost any information on the internet should be taken with a grain of salt but it is another useful source of information that is probably mostly correct most of the time.

On anything of importance Wikipedia is the starting point. From there the search continues via the world wide web. And remember, research is plagiarism from more than two sources.

No doubt "more correct" than the drivel that emanates from Washington,DC......

Same here. A great fast source of the most serious, random, or trivial information.

Are you aware that just about anyone can change the information in one of their entries? Just ask Fuzzy Zoeller, the golfer. If you want safe information, go to a real dictionary.

But be aware, there have been users who put information on wikipedia without fact finding their own items. Not all is that accurate.

My only gripe about Wikipedia is the authors of articles and their credentials are not disclosed. I have often wanted to cast a question or a thought to an author.

I too think it's worth donating because it's almost always my first source of information on a wide variety of things. Usually I accept what wikipedia says because the answer doesn't matter that much but if the answer is important I use the wikipedia answer to help me frame my continuing research. In all a great and usable service.

Thank you!
When I taught, I had a hard time convincing my students that because it was on the Internet did not make it correct.

I use Wikipedia for my initial informational searches. Everyone should recognize wiki is written by users. Some (most?) of them are doing their best to provide accurate information, but yes, wiki information must be verified like any other info taken from the net. I trust it more than Google.
