This is for LR users that utilize the built in pano and HDR functions. While it works just fine and I do appreciate that it gives the results in a RAW format (DNG) when I go to print in QImage I sometimes get an error that the DNG won't render. So it's off to PS and save for the TIF version and all is fine. However, I am using the book module and I have 34 panos that I wish to include but I get the same error. I really don't feel like running all through PS to get tif's. Does anyone else have DNG problems like this and have you found a solution? While I fully expect the normal "Oh use this program instead, it's great" I am committed to finding the solution to the problem at hand.

I rarely use output from Lightroom for final images for print or internet viewing. There is always something that can be improved upon that cannot be done in LR. All of my images are converted to psd. You can batch export in LR, negating the need to go to PS for anything, if that's what you really want to do. I use both Qimage (great stuff, btw), LR and a bunch of other software. But I do not print raw files. I always convert.

All I do is to batch export the DNGs as Tiffs from Lightroom to a spare folder on the desktop, and in the export dialogue I check the box "add to the catalog". That way, within moments, I have the tiff copies ready in lightroom ready for the book module.
Perhaps I have not understood properly the dilemma.

Thanks to both of you, your comments are noted but that doesn't solve the problem of why won't the DNG's render properly? If I can't find a solution then your suggestions of exporting and adding to the catalog will have to do.

You should drop Mike at Qimage a line and ask him.

First, please remember DNG is not a universally recognized file format like jpg or tiff. it is a format that was created by Adobe, but Adobe offers free licenses to anyone who wants to use it. Some camera manufactures have used it for their raw data, others have their own raw data format. Although I can't say I'm an authority, but, in general, you cannot make a print from a raw file, and DNG is essentially a raw file!
In general, printing a file usually requires either a jpg or tiff formatted file.
The safest solution is to use jpg files, although you may be able to use tiff.

For clarity,
I'm in Adobe LR
I create a pano with Adobe LR which creates a DNG
I place the DNG pano into a LR book module along with several CR2 files (Blurb in Adobe LR)
I create a pdf of the book with the DNG photo
Adobe LR renders the CR2 files and when it gets to the DNG file it balks and says it can't render the DNG
The process stops dead
Why can't ADOBE LR render the DNG it created? Yes, I can export to TIF or open in PS and save for a TIF so I know LR can do it. I simply hate the idea of having to do multiple steps when one should do.

Your clarification prompted me to follow the steps:
I chose a few DNG images, put them together in one collection and opened the book module. This I set to pdf.
Quickly made up the book then exported to pdf (button at bottom of rt hand panel). Named it Testbook.
It saved and opened as a pdf file and showed the images (which all started life as Adobe created dng files).
I am using Lightroom Classic CC 8.0 Release on Win 7 (not that should make any difference).
I do think (but not sure) the book module was altered during the last one or two updates. I have no idea what the changes were.

Well boys and girls, the problem is one bad file. After exporting as a tif and inserting the new tif in the book I got the same error. Deleted the file from the book and shazam it works just fine. Thanks for all your help everyone.
