I keep mine too but I really don't know why as I rarely sell anything. It does help my wife convince everyone we know that photographers are a couple of bubbles off plumb. Have fun and keep shootin'. Mike

I've got every original box and if that box was in a shipping box I've got that one also. Does that mean I'm a hoarder? My wife thinks so. The few pieces I've sold the original box went with the item. TNmike

Thanks everyone. Not looking to sell anything I have right now. Don't have a whole bunch of boxes but guess at this point I'll just stuff them back in the closet. :)

I am currently undergoing the chore of cleaning out my closet. A task for only the stout of heart. Since I started buying my Nikon d90 and lenses, bags, flashes, etc. I've accumilated a good amt of boxes which I've tossed up into the nether relms of said closet. How many of you keep the boxes your camera equipment comes in? Why?
I keep mine incase I want to sell and have the original box to put them in

I keep the boxes initially in case they need to be returned, sent back etc.
I keep them in the event I decide to sell them it might mean be more attractive if I have the original box they came in.

I keep boxes for everything I buy (not just camera kit) and to be even more anal I tape the receipt to the inside of the lids. It all then goes up the loft and forgotten about. If anything breaks i know where the warranty card/packaging is. Same applies if I ever sell anything on I have proof of purchase including date and value paid and original packaging was designed to keep the item safe so I know it will package back up and still be protected.
