Can't do any better - My son has this and I am impressed with the image quality and ease of use. I use a Sony RX10M4 as well as a bunch of Nikon full frame gear, and the RX100 never ceases to amaze me. You could never tell this camera fits in a pocket from looking at the results.
Your title says "Point and Shoot". That is degrading/misleading considering the sophistication, quality and range of features built in to the current crop of high end, small cameras.
I bought the Sony RX100, first version. The whole series is excellent.
Pros:
-Pocket sized small, really small.
-Great image quality
-Stealthy....you look like a tourist, not a photographer
-Newer versions shoot terrific video
Cons:
-sensor is not "full frame" so you get "push back" from the full frame purists.
-zoom range is not as good as the Panasonic ZS100 with the same sized sensor.
For overseas travel, my wife has a Panasonic ZS100. I have the Sony RX100 (first version). It has been replaced in my travel bag by a Panasonic LX100 because, in addition to photos, I like shooting 4K video.
Based on our use and experience, the current best compact travel choices are the Panasonic ZS100 or ZS200, versus the Sony RX100 series versus the Panasonic LX100/LX200.

You can take really nice images in a wide variety of conditions with the Rx100M4. It was my #2 camera on this Spring's trip to France and worked really well.

Yup!
One of the few true "pocket cameras" that gives great photo's every time, it's hard to miss a shot with this camera.
Fantastic camera, if I have to travel light it saves the day for me. I love that the flash can be pulled back with you finger tip so it can be used as a bounce flash.
I made a mistake in my post where I wrote "LX100/LX200". The correct typing would have been "LX100/LX100II".
I have the first version RX-100 and the VI newest version. Can't beat it for IQ.

Yep, I have Panasonic TZ100 and my big gear is in the closet .... these cameras do a bag of tricks that amaze me.... a simple add-on allows filters and for me a 10x and Fisheye lens attachment .
My Aunt Sally has a P&S... cost $60.... the Sony and Panasonic 1" cameras are not P&S, that is snob naming.... these cameras are 24/7 cameras.
Can you please tell me the make and model of the add on and the 10x and fisheye attachments and where you bought them please? I want to enhance my ZS100 which i love dearly.

We have a Sony RX100 and I can't imagine you would not be happy with one. Excellent point and shoot.
I bought the Mark 4 version so I wouldn’t have to lug my D800e around France. The image quality is excellent. Every camera involves some level of compromise on some feature or another, but the Sony RX100 series offers a lot of capabilities for the money. I now carry mine around as a “street” camera. I do recommend buying the Sony hard case for it. Enjoy
A few years ago the RX100 was listed in Time magazine as in the ten best inventions of the year.
I bought the original and have been a user up to the RX100 IV now. This camera never fails to amaze me
as others have said here. Sony has 6 versions and has changed them in a crazy way as far as the lens etc.
I have a viewfinder, flash 4k etc. This one is 1.8 24 70 lens. The original had a 24 100mm I think.
I occasionally put an old flash brake on it to steady my hand if I think I need it. Its very responsive
and does well in low light. It matches up somewhat with my Sony a7s II and my XDCamcorder.
Sony had played around the new one up to a 200 zoom. The newest version 6 I believe has great
features but is very expensive.
I shot this this summer on vacation with family with the RX100. Yes their is a lot of post processing.
I posted this before on conversion to forum.
