I have an iMac, 27 in 2017 computer with the following components: 3.5 GHz Intel Core i5 processor, 40 GB RAM, Radeon Pro 575 Graphics Card. I have searched this topic on UHH and found that Mojave has been insalled with varying degrees of success. Some users report no problems; some report significant problems; some report annoying problems (that I would find significant), such as Word not working, not being able to email from Lr, etc. Some users sugest waiting a few months to install so that the bugs can be worked out; others say they installed immediately with no problem. It is now a few months, and I am wondering if updates have been released that take care of any of the known bugs. I am particularly interested inknowing if my software will work with no hitches. I regularly usethe following software: Lr Classic/Ps CC 2019, Topaz Studio/Topaz aps, ON1, Anthropics (Portrait Pro, etc.).
I would appreciate a response from anyone who knows if bug fixes have been addressed, and if Mojave will work with my programs.
Thanks.

With so many variables, the answer is tricky. My upgrade worked fine from the start. I suggest you google Mojave and your machine, then each of your software concerns.

FWIW:

I upgraded my 27” late 2015 iMac awhile back, no problems with my apps. I do not use Microsoft Office apps, instead I use the free Libre Office ( pretty much the same thing ). My everyday important apps are Photoshop CC, Lightroom Classic CC, ON1, DXO Photolab Elite, Safari & Apple Mail, Topaz plug-ins, including Studio. No hiccups at all for me.

I usually upgrade my OS right away, have never run into any major issues since My first iMac with Leopard.

I had no problems from the start--but you might.
Play it safe and stay indoors.

Thanks Donald,
I read your comments when I did my UHH search. You were certainly one of the “lucky” ones, with no problems. For some reason, it seems to be a matter of chance as to whether not Mojave will work smoothly. I guess I should have checked the Apple website to see if Mojave has been updated to fix any known bugs.

In my opinion, it's always safe to upgrade to Mojave. I've done so with a number of Macs of varying ages and resources, and have never experienced a glitch.

The caveat, in my opinion, is that if you have apps that you use and rely upon, check with their authors to see if they are or have Mojave compatibility.

Held off upgrading until this week based on the posts here. Upgraded my MacBook Pro 15", i7x4, 2.7Ghz, 16GB main mem, 512GB SSD, then applied a few updates to Adobe Creative Cloud apps including both Lr and Ps. Played with it for a while with no problems.

Best way to find out if your softwares are compatible would be to contact the manufacturers. It is probably stated on their web site.

I adopted Mojave as soon as it came out. Retina MBP Early 2013, NEC PA272W external monitor. No OS or monitor issues.

I use the Adobe Photographers plan, PS, Lightroom Classic and also the Creative cloud version, Portfolio, Bridge. No problems. Fast Raw Viewer works ok. Even Nikon crash-ware Capture NX-D and ViewNX-i seem to work as well as they ever did.

I don't have any Microsoft software on my computer so I can't comment on any of that.

I upgraded both my MacBook Pro and an iMac to Mojave when it came out and have had ZERO problems.
I use Lightroom Classic CC, Photoshop, Luminar 2018, Aurora HDR daily and had no issues.

Go ahead and upgrade.

I think you’ll find Mojave operates smoothly, certainly has on my 2012 27” iMac. However, if you’re like me, you would have been receiving notifications from Apple whilst running the last High Sierra software that 32 bit software would not be compatible with the 64 bit Mojave. Most software suppliers would have been working on their products to update them to run on Mojave. My only problem was Microsoft, I had the old 2011 Office program which was not 64 bit and the software did not work. I went on eBay and bought the 2016 Office software for next to nothing. Downloaded and installed it as instructed, then followed the update to 64bit instructions and it works fine.

I have had no problems upgrading, but I do not think any updates have been released for those that did.

I installed Mojave just after release. No probs on installation or with all my important apps running OK. All my photo apps work perfectly. I run AlienSkinX4, ON1, Luminar, Iridient Developer & Silver Efex Pro 2, Franzen Sharpen etc. Iridient issued an update yesterday which I instaled and is working fine and I'm waiting for the Luminar update on 18th December. My machine is a late 2012 MacMini running 16Gb ram so I think it will be a breeze on your machine. I really like the Dark Mode. Have fun.

If you have concerns about any of your software programs not working properly, you can always partition your HD and install Mojave on the 2nd partition. You can then reboot using the Mojave partition to see if everything works as it should. If so, there should be no issues upgrading the original startup disk to Mojave.
