I have yet to hear of a single complaint regarding a factory refurb during my five years on the forum. While this does not mean there have been no issues, it must be relatively rare. Conversely, on occasion I have heard of unfortunate issues with relatively new equipment.

If one is not comfortable buying a refurb, then by all means do not buy one.

Bought my D7000 (shown) as a refurb ... never had a moment's problem with it ... fine camera ... absolutely NO issues ...

The advantage of getting the refurb from the manufacturer is that it meet factory specifications for new condition. Third party refurbers would not have access to factory spare parts - they could buy from the manufacturer but the price to would be more (S&H for example).

My experience with Cameta Camera is that they sell factory refurbished Nikon’s. They also add 9 months warranty to the Nikon 90 day warranty. However, I have never needed warranty coverage in the first year of ownership of a factory refurbished.

I purchased my D5300 from Cameta, two years ago. It had 55 clicks on it and I have had no problems. Go for it.

Or, is that a reference to Shipping and Handling?
