Another stop on our fall trip. Crater Lake is located in south central Oregon. The water is an incredible deep blue...so beautiful!

Visited Crater Lake few years back in early spring when snow was still on th ground. A magnificent sight to behold. Rangers said if you got too close to the edge, and fell in, no one would look for you because it was too steep and dangerous.

I worked at Crater Lake Lodge summers when I was in college. It is beautiful (even more so at sun rise when the lake is smooth enough to be reflective), and yes very steep. But, while the rangers might say they wouldn’t rescue you, at least back in the ‘60s, they were wonderful people who would have risked their own lives for the visitors.

Yes! According to Crater Lake National Trust, "All fish living in Crater Lake were introduced. Crater Lake was stocked with 1.8 million trout and salmon from 1888 to 1941. Of the six species of fish introduced, the offspring of two species are still living in the lake: rainbow trout and kokanee salmon." Fishing is encouraged, but you have to be pretty agile to hike down there. People can also swim in the lake, but it's pretty darn cold!!
