I have been asked by a friend to research the possibility that this camera may be worth something of value. I have absolutely no knowledge of this camera, and would like to get reliable information on possible resale. I know the usual suspects; MPB, KEH, ADORAMA, ETC. But is there a better venue for ‘antique’ photography equipment?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The only value in todays market of this camera is it being in working hands, as it still is a wonderful camera and should be used for what it was intended to! As far as getting good money for it, that's just not going to happen, they are going for an apple and a bread crumble these days, sad in a way, but great opportunity for someone wanting one of these!

Blads are wonderful cameras for anyone shooting film or using it with a digital back. The bodies have serial numbers, the backs have different serial numbers and the outer shell of the back should have the same serial number as the inner film holder of the back. Their lenses are serial numbered individually.
Don't try to remove or mount a lens unless the body and the lens are both cocked, doing otherwise will jam both parts.

If I remember the dating scheme properly, the body is 1970. The matching of inner and outer numbers(only 3 or so, not complete series) is a good heads up as the 2 pieces are tuned/adjusted to each other. A second heads up is if the lens is a T*. T* is the later version which indicates multicoatings to reduce lens flare. The non T* is very good, the T* is better and would be worth some more.

Aaaggg! My beloved Hasselblad 500C an antique? This is the first time I've thought of it that way....but I guess you are right. Now I feel like an antique
