A couple of miles from my home; I see foxes occasionally (other than the woman I'm married to), but they're always moving and I've never been able to make a photograph I liked. A week earlier I was out with a friend teaching him photography (he'd never shot a good camera, ever) and we had some dramatic light and I told him when your jaw is dropping at some scene, take a glance over your shoulder, you may be surprised the best shot is behind you. So I was shooting some cool lenticular clouds on a 10,000 ft mountain near my home, and you guessed it, I looked behind me and here was this fox. Shot with a Nikon D810 & 70-200 E FL f2.8 lens, f9 1/320th ISO 2200.
... you may be surprised the best shot is behind you.
Great advice and it sure paid off for you here. Close ups are nice, but a good shot of wildlife in its environment is great!

Very nice. Yep, looking behind now and then is a good practice.

Nice shot. Would liked to have seen it in download.
Great capture! He was looking at you too.
That is a beautiful fox....glad you turned around.
Definitely a print for your wall. The image has quality light, scenery, and a conservation theme throughout.
