that is the question. I hope some of you with the "good eye" will tell me which you prefer and why.

I would make the first image a Vertical for more impact.
Thank you Stan, I will try that.
A square crop is another possibility that often works with single flowers. Your #2 seems more to me like a mistake, meaning that you tried a close-up, but missed noticing that parts of the petals were cut off. It's unclear what you are going for. With #1 I feel it's about the perfectly designed single blossom.
What are your own thoughts about centering #1 in a rectangular aspect?
btw, I think your background is very flattering to the flower!
I prefer the bottom, but not this version. The crop through the flower is good, but don't clip the pedals on the bottom nor the bulb in the lower left. You might need to rotate the flower slightly counter-clockwise and clone-out the leaf in the lower left if you can't crop it out of the frame while bringing back the pedal tips on the lower right.
Yep. Pic no. 1. Excellent work!
I am from the school that that does NOT cut off parts of the subject - unless there is a very GOOD reason for it !
..
I would flip #1 horizonatally so it is not looking out of the screen.

I prefer the cropped version but nice bokeh in the uncropped.
Thank you Linda for your thoughts. You always seem to have good ideas. I am not sure, however, what you mean by centering in a rectangular aspect. It that the same as Stan's suggestion to change the aspect ratio to a vertical?
Thank you Richard. That is a good idea.
Thank you all for taking the time to give me your suggestions. I have already tried a couple and I think they improve the photo.
I like the cropped version. Did you like it with a square crop?
I prefer the cropped one. The first one would look better, even with some minor cropping. In addition to those already suggested, just a bit of a crop to move the subject a little to the left of center.
