GOP Senator Says Voter Suppression Is A 'Great Idea'

Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) said it should be harder for "liberal folks" to vote.

Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) appeared to endorse voter suppression during a campaign stop this month, saying efforts to undermine voting among liberals at certain colleges would be a “great idea.”

“And then they remind me that there’s a lot of liberal folks in those other schools who maybe we don’t want to vote,” Hyde-Smith can be heard telling a small crowd of young people outside her campaign bus in a video taken Nov. 3 and posted on online Thursday. “Maybe we want to make it just a little more difficult. And I think that’s a great idea.”
Hyde-Smith, who was appointed to the Senate in April following the retirement of Thad Cochran, faces Democrat Mike Espy in a Nov. 27 runoff election. The Trump-backed Republican also came under fire last weekend for apparent racist remarks, joking with a crowd about attending a public hanging.

Campaign spokeswoman Melissa Scallan insisted Hyde-Smith was joking as she talked with students in Starkville, Mississippi, and claimed the video had been edited.

“It’s ok to still have a sense of humor in America isn’t it?” Hyde-Smith tweeted after the video circulated. “These students enjoyed a laugh with Cindy despite out of state social media posts trying to mislead Mississippians.”

It’s unclear which “other schools” Hyde-Smith referred to in the video. There are several historically black colleges and universities in the state.

“For a state like Mississippi, where voting rights were obtained through sweat and blood, everyone should appreciate that this is not a laughing matter,” Espy spokesman Danny Blanton said of Hyde-Smith’s remarks. “Mississippians deserve a senator who represents our best qualities, not a walking stereotype who embarrasses our state.”

So, the speaker may have been giving a sincere thought (seems the most likely option) OR She just wants to laugh at constitutional protections!

She loses either way, doesn’t she?

Sounds excellent to me too.
In democrats eyes suppression is requiring a person be a legal citizen with full rights and can legally vote and all others who cannot legally vote are excluded as the Constitution provides. If that takes an ID issued by the feds then so be it. Welfare losers have no problem showing proper ID to get the free welfare goodies to the government officials so there should be no issue for those losers to show they are eligible to vote.
Pretty simple. Makes elections valid without all the illegal votes currently being cast now in CA, FL and AZ as well as across the nation.
Of course the libs responding will turn this into personal attacks because they cannot refute the brilliance of what was just stated and that it is right and good for the integrity of the ballot and eliminates FOREIGN intervention from the process.

In reality, voting by non-citizens Just Doesn’t Happen. It Is Not An Issue. Period.

Time and again this issue has been explored and It Just Doesn’t Happen, No Matter What You Answer.

However, moving the voting places out of town, or into distant, difficult to reach places Happent All The Time By Republicans.

I've noticed that too. They seem to have taken their hysterical lying, looney conspiracy theories, and paranoid accusations to a new level, in parallel to the Orange Howler Monkey's melt down over that last month or so. It's like watching wild animals with rabies being back into a corner.

You don't seem to be following CA now registering illegals to vote.

You should be more careful with your terms. English words have standard definitions. Since CA does not register illegals to vote, contrary to your ridiculous fairy tale, it's not that Tom didn't "follow" your fairy tale. It's that Tom doesn't care about your fairy tale.

I guess you didn't see this as it was missing from your DNC talking points.

And if you are naive enough to believe they won't vote in federal elections I have some beach front property for sale in Salome, AZ.
I have the parcel and tax number for it.

She’s a republican and has been apparently for some eight years.

And she’s very quick to see the possibilities of voter suppression.

Yep...let the illegals vote in local elections and they will start slipping into federal election polling places with their local registrations and voting in national elections. Those local election registration cards will allow the illegals to do anything...vote early and often...get welfare...get free college...free medicare... it's just endless what those local registration cards in the hands of illegal aliens are going to open up!

Besides those horrors, they'll be voting more than once...all they got to do is go back out to their car, change their jacket, go vote again, go change their hat and vote again, go put on some glasses and vote again! Its just minddoggling!

Besides, we should prevent localities from having their own voting rules for local elections!

There will be no end to the abuses

Apples and oranges. Allowing people to vote for local school boards does not make them eligible to vote in general elections. It is illegal for non citizens to vote for state and federal office holders in every state, including California. CA does not register non-citizens to vote. The articles you linked to do not say that illegals are registered to vote in CA general elections, so you should try to learn the definition of "evidence", and what it means to prove your claim.

Their cars? Heck, didn't you know that they are all taken on busses and driven to dozens of different polling places, and Obama and Pelosi are the bus drivers? Oh, and Soros paid for the buses. Try to keep up.
