Nikon 24-120 F4 has the shakes

The lens after pressing the shutter button to focus sometimes just shakes and jitters in the viewfinder for a second or so. It started doing this a month ago. It's happening more now. It's mostly mounted on a D800E, but it does it on a D500 too. I turned off both autofocus and the VR. It still did it. No other lens does it. Guess it's off to Nikon to get fixed. Hate to be without it.
