I've frequently enjoyed watching Northern Harriers as they glide near the ground on search of prey. Their white rump makes them distinguishable, and their owl-like eyes are unique in the hawk world. This individual was circling back overhead on the winds. I had to shoot fast and didn't have time to use the right settings. As a result, it's both a bit noisy and blurred if blown up very large. Most of my shots had the sky behind the hawk, but this one shows trees and a far-off building which I think make for a nice contrast to the bird. Hope you enjoy.
Thanks, NMGal. Much appreciated.

Nice capture.
Thanks kpmac. just wish I'd seen it a couple of moments sooner. I never got it fully locked in and was panning really fast as it sailed past.
You did great considering the circumstances; shooting on the wing, so to speak. I doubt I would have even tried the shot. Harriers are spectacular creatures. I love birds and really enjoyed this image. Thanks for sharing.

Great shot jak, they are hard to catch, especially here in FL since it seems they're ALWAYS flying away....
...either way they are beautiful birds

I had a moment of hesitation before I started shooting, that was the time I should have been acquiring focus. I couldn’t tell what I had until I got home to a large screen. Thanks for the kind words. Glad you liked it.
