Getting Banned from Amazon

Someone sent me this article. I posted a while back that I was banned from posting anything on Amazon because I had violated their policies. I have no idea what I did or when I did it. A phone call to Amazon was no help. Their generic response said something about having a relationship with a seller. That doesn't apply to me.

I would occasionally post questions about an item, but I can no longer do that. Play it safe and don't post reviews on Amazon.

Just delete your account and open another. Would that work?

I do all the time; negative and positive and have no issues. It sounds like a problem isolated to old fogeys and china.

Very interesting. I've never been banned on Amazon but then again I never had a problem for me to give a negative review about. Definitely sounds fishy. Negative reviews hurt sales so Amazon would have a vested interest to keep negative reviews down. OTOH, I have seen many negative reviews about other products (non-photography related, one and two star reviews such as "this product is crap don't buy it"), but I wonder if those folks who posted it were banned. Definitely a good lead for an investigative reporter, but it may also be an isolated case, or of the "few and far between" variety. If Amazon is biasing it's reviews by suppressing the bad reviewers then that is bad news, especially when it comes to pirated Windows software - I would be pissed but would first contact the seller for a legit license code, or else. S/W and IP piracy is rampant in China.

Turn it over to 60 minutes - let them investigate it...

All of my reviews have been read, approved, and then posted, so I don't know what they didn't like. Apparently, neither do they. I don't recall giving anything a negative review.

Posting reviews isn't a big deal for me, but it would be nice if they knew why I was banned. It's not worth the effort to open a new account just to post reviews.

That would be puzzling for a positive review....The initial review and posting is probably approved by AI software, then later flagged by someone - the seller, a competitor maybe, who knows. It's hard to get reasons why when they are judge and jury and probably have sadists hiding behind the keyboard.

Regarding selling pirated software the seller should be banned in that case - I am sure the Amazon TOS has some clause about selling illegal items which would include pirated or illegal software. Also report it to Microsoft.
