MOAR GUNZ

When faced with an unspeakable horror and the deaths of innocent people, Republican politicians have little in their quivers other than meaningless talking points straight out of their favorite Russian-funded death cult.

For them, the answer to all of society's ills is "MOAR GUNZ":

"They had a maniac walk in and they didn't have any protection and that is so sad to see," Trump said at Joint Base Andrews in the Maryland suburbs before he departed for a campaign swing in the Midwest. "If you take a look at it, if they had protection inside, the results would have been far better."

Because there's nothing that puts your family at ease during a bris than armed guards, amirite?

It was a bris. A sacred family ceremony, like a christening. A time for reverence and joy.

8 people were killed by a monster with a gun.

Despite the fact that 3 police were shot, the President blamed the victims because in America, you’re supposed to arm yourself AT A BRIS?

Let us not forget that there were responding officers were also shot. ARMED officers. Still got shot.

Trump aside, what do you do if you're in a public place - a church, theater, store or wherever - and someone starts shooting, stabbing or clubbing? Run? Call the police? Fight back? The police can't protect you because they are responders.

Violence can erupt anytime, anywhere. The vast majority have never been exposed to it except via the media.

People freeze, fight, or run away. Trained people will fight - if trained well. Unfortunately for them and us, a lot of policemen are not well trained with a gun and they deserve to be.

Well Rose42, I was born in ‘40, and thus am 78 years old. Never in that 78 years, in real time or in retrospect, have I need a gun to defend myself, and frankly, no one that I know has either.

I am a gun owner, but I have never needed it as you suggest, and I don’t know anyone else who ever needed one.

The NRA has been selling a Hollywood, self reliant/be-real-afraid/movie star dream for longer than anyone can remember.

You're a fortunate man as are the people you know. Most people never have to. I know people that have had to or would have benefited by having one. Having said that, owning one is not a responsibility to be taken lightly.

As for the NRA I do think they have an important role but they sometimes go too far. We need something to counter the 'guns are evil' mentality. JMO

Irrelevant.

Those people did need them.

How can you be so callous?

I’m a vet, a certified NRA firearms instructor, a refuse to be a victim instructor, range safety officer, a bit of tae kwon do tossed in. I know firearms to a fairly great degree. I carry too. So does my wife.

Anyone who can legally obtain a firearm can, those who don’t want one don’t need to.

It’s stupid to rant an antigun opinion. Just don’t own one. Anyone who has one, great. Study and learn how to use it.

I’ve come face to face with a guy with whom I thought was a threat but never drew on him. I kept away from him and avoided the issue.

Your greatest weapon is your brain. Issue is thinking, using facts and truth to get out of trouble and being aware of your surroundings to prevent drama in the first place.

If necessary, I am able to defend myself. With or without a firearm. I’ll run first if I can. Distance is your friend.

So.
More people are killed by abortion than firearms. (Per CDC in 2014; 652,639 deaths by abortion vs firearms 11,208 Homicide only, 36,252 total)

More people are killed by use of alcohol than firearms (Heavily regulated BTW). 90,000 direct or related deaths 2014; https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2015/12/22/americans-are-drinking-themselves-to-death-at-record-rates/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.531f663990d8)

PS it is a Constitutional right to be armed exactly as free speech is a Constitutional right.
If you want to restrict firearms then I want to shut you up from expressing yourself.

Well Rich, here is my post:

“Well Rose42, I was born in ‘40, and thus am 78 years old. Never in that 78 years, in real time or in retrospect, have I need a gun to defend myself, and frankly, no one that I know has either.

I am a gun owner, but I have never needed it as you suggest, and I don’t know anyone else who ever needed one.”

I think there are sufficient facts involved in what I said, and the post reflects my experience.

I don’t deny the figures of various causes of death by alcohol, smoking etc., but these have nothing to do with my post and my experience.

Yes, guns are protected by the Constitution.

I am a gun owner myself; I own three .45s, a nine millimeter, a .380, and a two-inch .38, but I have never had the need to use them defensively, and never in my 78 years did I wish I had one for defensive purposes. Furthermore, to my knowledge, Not One of my friends or associates have used a gun defensively.

Those are the pertinent facts you say I’m afraid of and confused by, and I reiterate them to show you than I Am Not Afraid Of Them, Or Confused By Them!

What say you?
