I used LR and Aurora HDR 2019 to post process the image of our daughter fishing at Ashley Lake. Maybe a little too much blue in the color image. Thought I would try B&W also. CC welcome.

I think you have a wonderful opportunity for a b&w with impact. However, IMO it needs more tonal range, contrast and brightness. Does your b&w converter have the option to apply colored filters? If you use red/orange, that will change your trees to whiter than they appear now. I've pm'd you a quick edit done with an online app to give you some ideas. Super-cool photo!!

there's a richness in the color. The subject seems to stand out better. Subjective, of course.

What Linda said. There is just too much in the color. It’s hard to focus on the subject.

Dennis..The color version has impact. The Black & White lacks tonal range from light to dark. The color version you see the ripples in the water and can relate to the colors.
What do you think?

Great photo, not enough tonal range as a B&W. So I would opt for the color
