I have become a huge fan of the Netflix Sci Fi series "Stranger Things." I tried to take one of my lightning images and come up with an effect similar to the sky shown in some of the Stranger Things scenes. What do you think? Am I in the ball park? So since Halloween is just around the corner; here they are.
As always, download for best viewing.
Quite interesting. I like the last two the best!
I have not seen Stranger Things so I can't speak to that but the last two have the most "alien" or other worldly feel to me. I like the layers of color around the lightning in the the next to the last one. That one says magic to me.
If "alien" was your objective I would say that they become progressively more alien. But I'm not familiar with the look that you're trying to emulate, so I can't comment on that.
Last two appear "alien" to me. I wonder if #3 would be even more interesting with differentiating colors in various areas (clouds, land, sky------)

I don't know the series; but I'm envious of anyone who can capture lightning. Very cool.

Hi, Dave,
My favorite is your original, but close behind is #3 with its concentric, irregular banding about the focus of the lightning’s upper origin.

I don't know the show, but I also like the second edit (pic #3). Fun stuff!
Ooooh - neat!! Yes - some of these would fit right into Stranger Things! I'd love to see your first image with a little more of a "hole" coming out of the sky for the lightening bolt, but number 3 is my current fave!
I'd like to thank everyone for their input on these.
For the record the first two were made by changing the hue/saturation curves; the last two were made with a metalize effect program that is part of Photo Pos Pro.
I am not familiar with the series. But after posting the link I think you achieved your goal . Particularly with your second and third images.
