Yes I watched that earlier today. At the end, during his summary, about minute 22:12, he said that using the F2Z adaptor would yield about 80% as fast as the native mount. Huh?!! I backed the video up and replayed to make sure I heard right. But then a few seconds later he says “its about as fast”. Again “about” is not the same as identical.

It was my understanding the F2Z adaptor on Z-series bodies, provided ALL the performance of the native mount for the F-series lenses. Meaning no loss of speed (although some functions might not work on older lenses). I sent Matt a message asking if I had heard him correctly. No reply as of yet.

IF I have to take a 20% loss in speed and if I have to buy all new S lenses, to regain the speed, then that is a deal breaker for me transitioning to the Z series bodies. :(. I love the mirrorless format and I was looking forward to buying a Nikon mirrorless body. But now I need to sort this out first.

That was my understanding of the FTZ adapter as well using F-mount lenses on the Z bodies, that F lenses would work the same, with no differences. The early hands on previews were interesting, but this is why you need to wait for reviews of actual production model cameras being used in the field as Matt did. Same as all the negativity about the battery life only being 300 shots. He got 4 to 5 times that using the camera in Iceland.

I have no plans of getting a Z model at this time until it has been thoroughly used, tested, and reviewed by others also. Photography Life website ordered 6 Z7's, and have one so far. Looking forward to their in-depth reviews on the camera.
