I will be spending three months in New Smyrna Beach at the beginning of the year. Am looking for information on places to photograph, camera clubs in the area, and lastly, whether there is a pool facility such as a YMCA pool in the region. All help appreciated-thanks in advance.
Canaveral National Seashore and Ponce Inlet Light for starters.

If you head south on A1A (the beach road) it turns into a waterfront park. There are access points to the beach with wooden walks and viewing platforms. If you're in a jeep you can keep going on the sand road.
Good photo opportunities on the ocean and the sound side.
Here are a couple from there a few years back.
You'll probably have time to go to Port Canaveral / Jetty Park / Kennedy Space Center also.
The fort at St. Augustine is not that far either.

There are many photo opportunities in the area and winter is the best time, particularly for birds. There is a very active camera club in New Smyrna called the Southeast Volusia Camera Club. They are on Meet-Up and here is a link to their website.

I grew up in New Smyrna Beach and still live close in Edgewater. The places listed are all great but also....
1. See the Sugar Mill Ruins at 600 Old Mission Road.
2. Sunrise pics on the ocean through the Sea Oats covered dunes at the Sapphire St. beach park.
3. Spruce Creek Park at 6259 S Ridgewood Ave Port Orange which is between Rose Bay and Strickland Bay and has gorgeous sunsets. It is on the west side of US1 (aka Ridgewood) heading north from New Smyrna. The entire area is a beautiful wetland estuary.
4. Tomoka State Park at 2099 N Beach St in Ormond (about 35 minutes from NSB) with beautiful 300 year old Live Oaks, trails, and nice scenery.
5. Ponce de Leon Light House & Museum at 4931 S Peninsula Dr, Ponce Inlet gives you a spectacular panoramic view of the area especially the north side of the inlet.
6. Old Fort at 115 Julia St, New Smyrna Beach (by the yacht basin on the Indian River (Intercoastal Waterway). This predates St. Augustine but unlime St. Augustine it was not continuously populated.
7. If you like street photography there is also Flagler Ave. on the beachside and Canal St. On the mainland which are both historic streets to varying degrees.
There are more but these are the main places. Just let me know if you want more info.

Black Point Drive on Merritt Island is a great place for birds in the winter and early spring.
What a wonderful, thoughtful reply. Thank you very much. Would welcome more information.

I have spent much time in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. The Beaches are Beautiful, catch a "Sunrise" in the early morning. Have a "Burger" at "Breaker's-on-the-Beach". A quaint historical downtown. A National Seashore not far away. Great Scenery in a multitude of locations. Also, if you enjoy Trains and Railroads, the "FEC" runs Right thru N.S.B. My daughter lives there for the past 8 years and loves it. About 1 hour from Orlando. 30 minutes from Kennedy space center. A great place to spend a Photography vacation.
