Help with camera settings for photo with “writing with sparklers”

Hi UHH’ers

Need some guideance on some camera settings (A, SS, etc) for the following photo my daughter wants me to take of her. She wants to be photographed at night (i.e dark) where she is lit up and, with sparklers in her hands, she has written words or made shapes. I suspect I need to use a flash (to get her) combined with a long SS so that she can write with the sparklers, but looking for specifics to try.

As a beginning amateur, these are the constraints I have to work within in terms of equipment

A) Nikon D7200, likely with either the Nikkor 16-80 or Sigma 50-150 zoom on it
B) Very sturdy Manfretto tripod
C) Wireless infrared remote shutter trigger for the 7200
D) on camera built in flash

I am going to guess that the above is probably not the best combination, but it is what I have. Please do not respond with suggestions to buy lots of other equipment, as that is not in the budget at this time. Will need to try with what we have to work with.

My thanks in advance for your suggestions

Manual mode, bulb for the shutter speed and keep the shutter open for the duration of her writing. You'll have to experiment to find the correct aperture. If you opt for the flash to illuminate your daughter I suggest setting the flash to sync with the second shutter curtain, not sure how to do that with a Nikon; she will then be lit up by the flash at the end of the "sentence."
