This should stir a bit of a hornets nest. There has recently been a report by the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) Basically saying that if the earths temperature rises by 1.5 degree's we are in deep poop. The IPCC are 97 percent sure climate change is caused by human activity.

https://www.theguardian.com/environment/climate-consensus-97-per-cent/2013/sep/27/global-warming-ipcc-report-humans

I have always been a bit sceptical about the scaremongers but looking around at planetary events the finger is swinging around to us humans. The report is damning and we are according to them moving toward a point where we can no longer predict the consequences of doing bugger all. I know a lot of Hoggers follow the Presidents "So what, false news" attitude but I ask you older guys is the weather the same as when you were young? Are there stronger Hurricanes, Cyclones, Heatwaves, Tornadoes etc.? It's so easy to dismiss the fact that it's just the way things are naturally. Why is it that every year some record is broken i.e. Higher temperatures, Lower temperatures, Stronger winds. Is it so easy to just turn a blind eye to something that is hitting you in the face. So lets look at the other side of the coin if all this change is just natural and what humans are doing is only a small part of the problem shouldn't we stop doing even the small part of the problem. I love my grandkids and don't want to leave them a inheritance of disaster.

The planet's climate is constantly changing. Remember most of the NA continent was under ice. Then there was global warming and it went away. If we had been present with liberals then what would they be saying and trying to do? Low level lands were flooded, people moved to higher ground, they quit migrating on the land bridge between NA and Asia etc. We survived just fine. Overall climate even in recorded history has been on average warmer by the dreaded 1.5 degrees before. The planet is constantly changing and we are along for the ride and there is absolutely nothing we can do about it.
If you want to stop pollution go to China, India, Russia and other developing economies as they are the source of 90% of the air, water and ground pollution. Once you have solved that then we can talk about the USA.

You asked .. "you older guys" about changes. When we were younger we didn't have instant reports about hurricanes, cyclones, heatwaves all over the world. NO INTERNET ETC so we wouldn't have known, so personal experience is mute. Look at weather data and decide.

I've heard the stupid comment over recent years, this is just another cycle as has been over past history.
The thing these mind numbing commentators don't, or can't realise, is that there has never been this many human beings on the planet at any time in history. The experts have been saying this for years, but the deniers are ignorant.

We need to believe the scientists, not those who dismiss what is happening before our eyes.
Yes, I love my Grandkids.

When the Republicans learn to use science, instead of religion, we will emerge from the dark ages.
Science, because you can't figure shit out by praying.

Frank T, now we understand why you think as you do. So sad. Mostly I'm thinking about the final moment you realize God is real.

So you think we ok with polluting the air. I'm more concerned with the poles swapping ends with electrical fields AGAIN an making water swirl the opposite direction going down the drain. Like it does at the equator.

I live in the real world. Show me evidence that god exists and I will worship him/her. But, until that time, religion doesn't make any more sense than your grandchild having an invisible friend.
When will the human race give up these primitive ideas of an invisible man that lives in the sky watches over us?

And how does anything we do prevent poles swapping ends?
We are pretty much just along for the ride and "all" those so called scientists have been debunked over and over by other scientists showing that the raw data was fraudulently manipulated in order to fit the narrative needled to keep the grant money flowing.

I do remember some of the weather back in the 50's. I grew up in NH and that was a time of lots of snowy winters and mild summers. We didn't have air conditioning and didn't need it. Then later in the late 60's (still in NH), we had another bout of huge snow storms that buried our white car. We had to put a little red ball on the antenna so we could find the car in the morning. It seems as though those cycles kept repeating with 10-15 year in between.

I'm happy to give up beef, pork, and (sigh) lamb if someone tells me that for sure is a good thing. I'm not willing to give up my car or air conditioning or vacuum cleaners or washing machines and dryers or air plane rides to see my grandchildren. Yes, I'm spoiled but the joy of living in this century is intoxicating.

The major concern is the speed of climate change we may not have time to adapt. I think your figures are a little out.

Always moving the goal posts, first it was the fear mongering of global warming, then climate change and now it's the "rate" at which the change is coming lol. All in the name of blaming mans actions.
