Got hired by a women's makeup company to take pics of adopted dogs. Turned out to be fun
Prai, a women's make up company goes around the country and sponsors "Free Shelter Days". They pick up the adoption fees for any animal adopted. Set up some primitive lighting...since I know nothing about lighting and a backdrop...anyway 1 of my favorites.

Ok
A lady brought her brother to pick out a dog. They held hands while we took the pics
All in all, I think my wife and I made $3 an hour.

If it helps the dogs I would work for nothing!
Thanks for the joyous pictures.
Sweet set. Couldn't help noticing that the newly adopted dogs were licking their new owners' faces.

Well that is what they wanted...interactive shots.
However, setting this up I dealt with like 4 different people who said they wanted different types of shots...as in the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing X 2. So I decided I am just gonna shoot what I would like.

Which you donated to the shelter, of course! Wonderful series, Greg. Congrats!

We do, 30-40 animals a week for adoption photos used on social media. We get paid more nothing than other volunteers.
But not gonna work for a profit company for free.

You are natural for portraits.Outstanding! Subjects look natural and relaxed.
And I always say this. If you want to improve your photography, no matter what your skill level, go shoot for an animal shelter.
I have seen people who couldn't get a shot in focus to save their lives get great. People who couldn't get an action shot master that skill.
People who didn't know anything about their camera come to grips with it. Most importantly. you will learn light. Harsh shadows in daylight clouds and indoor light.
Because when you shoot at an animal shelter it is your job to put a face on that building, otherwise it is just a building...and the pressure is on...
Fantastic photos of people with genuine smiles.
