Alaska through my new used 15-85mm Canon

I relied on the Hogs for recommendations for a wide angle lens to compliment my 100-400. Several of you suggested Canon's 15-85mm. I was able to pick up a good used one on eBay. I've been really happy with the results. It combined with the 100-400 provided what I needed on our recent small boat Alaska repositioning cruise. I will say, though, that I switched between the two about 1000 times. Now I realize why many photographers take two separate cameras!

Sally, These are all beautiful pictures. I tend to lean towards # 1 as my favorite. Love the colors and the composition!

Thanks for the kind comment. That is my favorite too. In fact I’m having that one enlarged.

Nice photos. I'm familiar with that lens, use to have one. In my opinion it's one of the best EF-S lenses made; I believe they're going for around $900 new. Like I said, I no longer have one; I sold all my EF-S lenses. Now all my lenses fit all my bodies.
If you plan on going on many photo safari's I strongly recommend you get a second body. If size is an issue, both the Rebel SL2 and the M50 are very small and lightweight. The M50 will require an EF to EF-M adapter but it's not big or heavy at all. The EF to EF-M adapter takes EF-S lenses also. I have both cameras I mentioned and they work guite well.

After the Alaska trip, I totally agree with the idea of using two bodies! My only body is a Rebel SL1 and it has served me well so getting an SL2 would make a lot of sense.

Excellent shots. Took a big boat cruise 2X. But thinking your small boat is a better photo experience
