Coolpix P1000 external flash compatability

I now have my new P1000. I downloaded and printed the manual. External flash compatibility list units ( SB-5000, SB-500, SB-700 ) but not my SB-600. Does anyone know if this flash is also compatible? The manual states "Attempting to attach an accessory that does not support this camera may damage the camera and or the accessory" Needles to say I have not tried the flash unit yet. Any info would be appreciated.

I don't think the SB600 would harm the camera but it may not work at all. You can try it out without fear of damaging either the flash or camera.

I did try it and it worked as expected. Did not want to buy another flash. Thanks for quick response.

A clue may be that the Nikon web site does not list the SB-600 as a flash that they are now selling. It says "This product has been archived".
