NBC news concocts a fake news story about text messages they claim show Kavanaugh lied under oath

NBC, the relentless purveyor of fake news, released a story yesterday they claim shows Judge Kavanaugh lied under oath.

Really?

The story was from Kerry Berchem, a lawyer who attended Yale as the same time as Judge Kavanaugh and the second fabricator, I mean accuser, Deborah Ramirez. He says he has text messages that prove Kavanaugh lied under oath.

Not even close.

The text messages confirm that Judge Kavanaugh was aware that Ramirez was planning to go public against him with accusations and he prepared himself for that. George Hartmann, spokesman for the senate judiciary committee said:
"The texts from Ms. Berchem do not appear relevant or contradictory to Judge Kavanaugh's testimony," he told NBC News. "This appears to be another last-ditch effort to derail the nomination with baseless innuendo by Democrats who have already decided to vote no."

Let's look at that baseless innuendo.

NBC news ostensibly working with the document from Berchem, said the text message between Berchem and Karen Yarasavage show the nominee was discussing the allegations from Ramirez before The New Yorker story, on 23 September. Berchem and Yarasavage are supposedly friends of Judge Kavanaugh.

Now, Judge Kavanaugh stated under oath that he first heard of the allegations from Ramirez from The New Yorker story. The NBC story also quoted from an interview given by Judge Kavanaugh on 25 September, where he claimed that Ramirez was calling around to classmates to see if they remembers the incident. The NBC story stated that Kavanaugh was the one who was calling around while he claimed it was Ramirez who was doing that. See how that goes? Conflation.

In the NBC news story, they quote this nugget from Judge Kavanaugh: "The New York Times says as recently as last week, she was calling around to other classmates saying she wasn't sure I had done this." This was when the NYT actually decided they could not print that story from Ramirez because after calling around, they could find no witnesses and they discovered that Ramirez was the one calling around.

So they reached out to Judge Kavanaugh. It is also entirely probable, even likely, that people who had been contacted by Ramirez would in turn contact Judge Kavanaugh.

The thing of it is, Judge Kavanaugh still did not know WHAT the allegations were until he saw them in the New Yorker story. All he knew was that Ramirez was calling around for weeks and that's why she finally admitted she wasn't even sure it was Kavanaugh in the first place.

Judge Kavanaugh had already addressed the issue in the interview with the committee:

"What's your reaction to that? (about the Ramirez story.)

Judge Kavanaugh. They couldn't -- The New York Times couldn't corroborate this story and found that she was calling around classmates trying to see if they remembered it. And i, at least -- and I, myself, heard about that, that she was doing that. And you know, that just strikes me as, you know, what is going on here? When someone is calling around to try to refresh other people, is that what's going on? What's going on with that? That doesn't sound good -- that doesn't sound good to me."

So, Kavanaugh had already heard and testified in the very same interview that Ramirez was calling around looking for dirt on him. He didn't know the specific allegation, but he had every reason to try to pre-empt something coming from her.

In other words, NBC printed the story without mentioning that in the very same testimony where he said he had not heard the details of the allegations from Ramirez, he also stated that he was aware she was calling around, trying to drum up support for some sort of crap directed at him.

Judge Kavanaugh didn't lie, he even specifically told the committee that he became aware of this accusation BECAUSE Ramirez was calling around to friends. Of course, he would tell whomever called him about it that whatever she was shopping around was bunk. He only found out what the accusation really was from the New Yorker story.

They are in a panic now. They have to make stuff up because reality is against them. They really thought Christine Blasey Ford was the real thing, a true victim, turns out she's a total fraud.
