I want to use the wifi features on my D7200 but I can't find an app for my Android phone that will sync with the camera. Any suggestions for finding an app and any experienced advice on using wifi features of the D7200 will be appreciated.

Its WiFi, why are you looking for an app?

For Canon cameras, you download software from their site to your phone. You might check your D7200 manual for specific instructions for that model.

Yes, you do need an app. The app you want is Nikon’s WMU. Google it and download it. It works great on the D7200. If you need help, let me know. It did take some patience on my part to figure it out.

I'm still asking for help. There are apparently some major differences between syncing to an iPhone vs an Android device. I tried Goggle but it seems that they believe all photographers use iPhones. Is there anyone in UHH land who (a) uses a Nikon 7200 (b) uses an Android cell phone and (c) has had success linking his/her cellphone to their D7200?

Have you installed the Wireless App to the phone, page 250 of the manual, downloaded from the Nikon site?
Have you enabled the Wifi in the camera and enabled the the SSID, page 251?
On you phone, have you selected the SSID of the camera, page 252?
If you have a really smart phone, have you tapped the phone on the camera for an NFC connection, page 254?

When I was doing the same with Canon, the selection of the SSID from the phone was the trick. Also, you 'control' the camera from the phone via the downloaded software. Are you trying to download images from the camera to the phone or another action?

Yes to all and many other sources as well. One thing I do understand is that that there is absolutely NO CORRELATION between how syncing is done between iphone/d7200 or Cannon and any smart device.

After reading your post I tried with my D7200 and a Kindle Fire. I turned on WIFI in the camera and it showed up in the Kindle. I selected WPS and while both said they were connected, the camera kept saying it was waiting for signal. I could see the pictures on the camera LCD and select those I wanted to transfer, but the camera was still missing a signal. I'm at a loss too.

Was your NFC on? And your Kindle was connected to the Nikon in the setup under wifi?

I tried it with NFC on and off. The Kindle was connected to the Nikon. Using WPS the camera gives 2 minutes to connect. It took about 20 seconds. I tried it several times after first deleting Nikon from the list. The results were the same each time.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I don't really need this to work, but I hate leaving things undone.

And you had the Nikon WMU app open?

I had installed the Nikon WMU app, then I turned both my Blackberry Priv (Android platform) and my LG 4g tablet Airplane mode on, then turned the wi-fi on, (on both my 7200 and the phone, and later the tablet)and when the phone and the tablet found the 7200 and I went to the already opened WMU app, it connected so that I could take pictures using either the phone, or later, the tablet. It wasn't ideal, but it would work with either device that way. I just went through the process with my phone and took a picture. Good luck.

one problem is that a lot of android phones want the wifi to connect through to the internet. If it can't, then it assumes the wifi is bad and disconnects. There may be a setting to turn that off on the phone.

another alternative program is qDSLRdashboard.
