Any confirmation or new rumors of the SUPPOSED Panasonic FF... ? Rumor mills are overflowing ... Any thoughts on how this might affect the other players if confirmed ?

Just wait a few days. It will likely be just an announcement.

99.9% confirmed. They will go with a common mount between Leica, Panasonic, and Sigma. It will be based off of the Leica SL mount if the rumors are correct. I think it could ultimately affect the sales for Canon, Nikon, and Sony, but whether very slightly or much more is an unknown.

Does this mean that they are cutting Olympus out of the partnership they have with Panasonic/Lumix and Leica MFT lenses?

Likely the FF lenses will also fit the micro 4/3rds. There is talk of a work-around for that. IMHO this will be an awesome fusion (stills-video) camera. Panasonic really knows how to do video, as well as this being a great stills camera. IMHO I think this camera will be better competition for Sony than either Nikon or Canon. Cheers

Why people keep on calling the M43 system "cropped" is beyond me. If using the default 4:3 ratio those cameras are using the whole sensor. Isn't that full frame?
Now, if Olympus and Panasonic are planning on a sensor the size of a film negative then we users of those cameras have a problem because I do not believe we are going to be able to use our old lenses with the new bodies.

Because they are a crop factor of 2 compared to the size of full frame.

Unfortunately, the definition of full frame has come to be known as (nominally) 36x24mm in size. Everything else gets compared to that.

Technically, the only time there is a “crop” is when you put a full frame lens on APS-C, or do something similar with another format. It means the projected image extends well beyond the sensor.

No, technically, Micro 4/3 is not a crop format. But compared with full frame, it has 2x magnification (that colloquially has been called crop factor).

The only format that is cropped is the APS-C that is used no Canon, Nikon, Pentax and Sony.

I can remember seeing a review that compared a Panasonic LX100 to a Sony RX100 iii and despite the LX100 having a significantly larger sensor (4/3 compared to Sony's 1") and less pixels (12MP compared to Sony's 20MP) it was significantly out-performed by the Sony where low light/high ISO was concerned. Apparently Panasonic are making the sensor for their new FF camera, so unless they've upped their game where sensor technology is concerned, it won't compare favourably to the other FF cameras that are already out there - at least where low light/high ISO performance is concerned (that could be a deal-breaker for a lot of people).

Thats kind of what I was thinking trying to figure out the whys... The three can bring their own expertise to the table and be a REAL strong combined force....
