I've seen a lot of typos and misspellings on UHH and elsewhere but this has to be a monumental screw-up. Back to the paint shop.

When working on the Space Shuttle, United Space Alliance was on a safety kick, and commissioned thousands of badge lanyards with a safety theme......what we got was thousands of lanyards with SAFTEY on them...… I still have one somewhere!!!

All due to reliance on spell checker. I too have seen a lot of articles using the wrong word. It would have been the right word except spell check said it was spelled right so the author never bothered questioning their own work nor reading it for grammar errors.

And I am sure someone will argue that spelling in not important. Imagine entering a mysterious room looking for loins to find lions. Try drinking Methyl vs Ethyl Alcohol sometime. Then you won't have to worry about reading misspellings again.

Their was a time when I wood mention something was speled or worded incorectley but then I was the one who got bashed so I stoped dewing it. I didn't want to be nown as the gramer or speling polese.
Looks like no f-in plane.
It has been reported that this was not an error in spelling at all, that the company did it on purpose on this one aircraft. Just think of all the free advertising they have gotten as this story has been carried by almost all the news services in the world. How many pics have you seen of this online and how many people have observed this ploy by the Hong Kong based Cathy Pacific Airline? Myself I think this was one helluva smart idea, don't you?
As one expert observer mentioned on CNN these names are put on using a stencil and not freehand so it is virtually impossible for it to happen unless it was planned. If the stencil was used and the "artist" did make an error there would be a empty space where the missing letter is supposed to B.
The Chinese may not be able to spell "to gude" but their business sense appears to be "nay 2 bad"

New rule: Don't forget the F in Pacific.
I have so many pet peeves about language don't get me started. Reading advertisements on craigslist that say "For sell" or "we sale", many from business owners is a big one, but I have wondered if some do it on purpose to get attention.

Please accept my apology for this thread. If I had known it was a scam I wouldn't have posted it.

I'm the other way--I rather enjoy being the resident Spelling and Grammar NAZI.
