As you drive into Galveston, there are bayous on both sides of the road. On the right stands this live oak that has survived hurricane after hurricane. No other tree stands in its vicinity.

Thanks for the memories. Drove past this tree many times when in Texas.

I'd guess they help keep the tree from toppling over in a bad storm.

I think the boulders were placed there to protect the tree from some drunken fools in a pickup!

Very good shot, years ago there was a tree in Fulton, Texas known as the Big Tree, it was massive, don't know if it is still there.
