Either way, the standard rule applies: If you are not paying for it, you aren't the customer, you are the product.

Competition helps keep things honest. That's a big part of capitalism. When it is missing we get potential abuses.

I got the creeps with the Google philosophy years ago and have found Bing does well.

How does Bing "suit you better?" Microsoft will use your habits and searching patterns same as Google will.
Do you believe that only Google will give their preferred (income-generating) results first when you search, or exclude what they don't want you to see?
To me, it's six of one, half-dozen of the other.

Try DuckDuckGo -
Our privacy policy is simple:
we don’t collect or share any of your personal information
We don’t store your search history. We therefore have nothing to sell to advertisers that track you across the internet
Other search engines track your searches even when you’re in private browsing mode. We don’t track you — period

Microsoft is as bad as Google.

You could try Startpage. It has results from Google without the tracking.

This page has some Google alternatives -

Enlighten me. What have you found out about Google that makes you want to go to Bing?

I haven't used Google in a long time; I don't like their politics nor their tracking and use of my data.

I've used duck duck go successfully for a long time and DDG never tracks you.

I like Bing better. I also use FireFox and turn on the incognito setting. I don't know if it is 100%, but it does put another barrier between your search habits and those who wish to profit from them.

They are both the same, they stir you towards what they want you to find.

I use DuckDuckgo. They do not put a tracer on you and pop-up ad do not follow you at every site you go to.
These pop-up ads they have on UGGH now are very annoying. Is there any way to get rid of them?
