I doubt that I'll get out for the hunt today however I found this Mayfly on the garage door while taking out the trash. I was actually looking for the Walkingstick Bug but he had seeked his fortunes elsewhere. Thanks to all for viewing.

This isn't a Mayfly. It's a Crane Fly. Nice capture though....

Oh wow, thanks for the correct identification Scott. I think I like finding a Crane Fly even better!

Thanks, Mark. Scott correctly identified it for me as a "Crane Fly". I don't know what attracts insects to my garage door recently so I'll simply enjoy it as a gift from nature.

FYI, Mayflies are not flies, have 4 fully formed wings, the 2nd smaller, and lack functional mouthparts; Crane flies are true flies (hence 2 words), one pair of formed wings, 2nd pair are halteres that show very well in your photos, and have a proboscis-like mouthparts, but even so they are not functional, but they occasionally do take water. Very nice!

So many misinformed people think Crane Flies are giant mosquitos.... My wife thought that until I educated her... There are several types of Crane Flies... I'm attaching an image of one (Bittacomorpha clavipes , Phantom Crane Fly) I captured that I have only seen one time. It was on the siding of my house & I only managed to get this one shot...

Wow, Scott, that's a great image of a Crane Fly. Mine was on the light grey aluminum garage door much like that of your siding. You fellows are right about them looking like giant mosquitoes and thank goodness they aren't for that would be one heck of a mosquito bite.
