Tamron lens

Hi Everyone, I am a new user, hoping to learn a few things and get an answer to my question. I have a Tamron 18-270 lens that I use exclusively. I have been trying to use manual mode more often. It seems that when I use this mode there is a click when I push the shutter button and one when I release it. It's not because of a slow shutter speed and the end result is all right. Does anyone else have this issue. Thanks you for your input.

You might want to mention what camera you're using too.

I have the same camera and lens and I don't have that problem. No double clicks. Do you have D-lighting or DRO or HDR turned on? Try turning them off and see if the extra click goes away. That should narrow it down.

Thank you for your reply, but I cannot find any of those on my camera.

HDR (High Dynamic Range) setting makes your camera take 2 or more exposures and combining them for best exposure. Turn that setting OFF and you should only get a single click. I think HDR is found in the Effects Mode (set with Control Wheel on top of camera). There also may be a setting for HDR in the camera's menu.
I don't have access to my camera right now so I'm trying to remember all of this.

You can turn Active D-lighting OFF in the Shooting Menu in the camera .

I would recommend an excellent book on the Nikon D3300 by David Busch . Much better than the manual that comes with the camera.

Thanks again. There is no HDR in the menu. In the effects option from the wheel there is something called HDR painting but that's not it. Did you say you have the D3300? I will keep trying before I head to the local camera gurus.

It sounds like you might have the two-second timer enabled. When you press the shutter button the mirror moves up. Then two seconds later the camera takes the picture. Check to see if that may be the problem.

I do not know if your camera allows the mirror up function but if it does check that.

You will get this exact sound if you have elected to operate the shutter in 'Quiet" mode. You get a click when you depress the shutter and another when you release the shutter.

I wonder whether it may be the VR engaging and disengaging? (If it has VR)
