Eastern prickly pear cactus is native here, but seeing it in bloom is not very common. This year with the hot dry weather the blooms were like I have never seen before - whole fields of big spectacular blossoms.

Absolutely outstanding. You have everything just right. The colors and focus are excellent with the transparency of the petals showing between the veins in the petals. Those flowers are so delicate. Cactus flowers are some of the most difficult to photograph. Mainly because of the transparency of the petals. I winter in AZ and have tried and tried to get a photo like yours. I came close last season on a white cactus flower. The purple flowers are almost impossible. So beautiful in real life but, very difficult to capture.
