I was just thinking that one of the big reasons that professional photographers never used any of the F series film cameras and stayed away from the D1 and D2 digital bodies was they had only one roll of film or one memory card slot.
My F5 is almost impossible to use now since it doesn’t even have a way to check the image right after I press the shutter!!

I can't help but feel that this comment is tongue-in-cheek.

Ironic that I should happen upon it when- for the first time in over 10 years- I forgot to put my SD card back into my camera after downloading and editing the previous day's shoot. Didn't miss a beat with the 2nd card still in place.

Yes, I do carry spares in my bag. But no telling what you might miss in the 30 seconds it takes to stop and reload.

Thanks. At last! I have the exact same problems!

I didn't know that April followed August. Hell, there are too many months and days in the menu already.

The Nikon F5, being a Professional 35mm film camera understandably lacks both a memory card slot and an LCD screen. It may however be useful when photographing a pair of high-button shoes ...

What I find interesting is that the Internet blew up over Nikons use of one XQD slot on their Z mirrorless body. A card with unbelievable speed and reliability.
But there has been literally no comments about Canons EOS-R using only one slow SD slot! It becomes obvious now that it was clearly Canon shooters causing all the one slot indignance, and now they have been shut up by their own choice of cameras. And Canon will now have 5 different lens mounts on the market. Sheesh!

We need wait a few days as the Canon has not been announced. Since I am not a pro I prefer 1 card slot over 2 card slots.

Not "officially" but almost full specs have already been released. Big question is whether or not Canon will finally update this SD slot to UHS II capability.

Could you explain the 'advantage' a one card slot camera has, over a two card slot camera.?

I don't want nothing on the camera that I don't use. I can only afford to have my camera without video, without built in flash, without the scenes mode. If I were richer my camera would not have live view, no P or S mode,

There's plenty of comment about the single card MT on YouTube. In fact, I'm a contributor to the topic and I shoot Canon.

I have an idea. Let's all stop buying ANY camera that has ONLY ONE memory card slot. That MAY make the manufacturers notice! Geeesus!

My camera has two card slots. I have never used the 2nd one.
FWIW It is my understanding that the Sony wizz-bang-super-do-all has the 2nd slot deactivated when set up to factory specs because that 2nd card slows it down.

It is my belief that the 2nd slot is a pacifier for worry warts.

Not so. Saved my bacon when I recently forgot to reinsert the CF card I had taken out to download files. Of course, I know a pro would NEVER make this mistake.

Media redundancy is a requirement for many event & wedding photographers. Removing features like this can ruin your reputation if you can't deliver images for paid venues.
