Took a drive here. For a long time I have wanted to try some landscapes of Oklahoma.. The beauty of this state is difficult; it lacks the high contrasts of strong elements that are in places like the American West. Also, so often the landscape elements seem to blend so subtly that I find them very difficult to capture. This preserve in northeast Oklahoma does provide a nice location for this effort though Any cc of these that might help me to capture this sort of landscape, or any insight into my weaknesses will be appreciated. Thank you for looking.

Chicflat if I had to choose to be in any of those pictures it would be #4. Nice set. I don't know really what to say to your question but some time wide open spaces need to be brought in more closely. I so enjoy pics from the outdoors and I am only speaking from my eye.

On the Buffalo, I would have zoomed out a little bit to show the full horns. The other photos the horizon are sloping downhill. If you turn on your grid in your view finder it will help you to keep the horizon level.... Just my opinion of course.

3 and 4 would be better with a near item in focus; bush, log, rock, etc.

Also might try a haze removal filter in processing. Or clarity increase.

Also try reducing sky luminosity to make it bluer.

I agree that such scenes need to bring a sense of connection, which is what I feel that good landscapes do, and that 4 has some of that. The problem here is that it is difficult for me to do that. You might notice how much of this landscape iss relatively barren.

Frank, the land does slope here. Much of its beauty lies in those swells of land. My shots reflect the land as you would see it. I hope I don't sound arguementative, but it does point to point to my difficulty in that how do I treat the subject to still capture its subtlety. Your point is valid.

Totally agree, and a wet later August kept it green.

I have a couply with such objects that I have not processed yet, but they were actually not particularly good exhibitions of the subtlety of this states geography' As far as reoving the haze That is a skill which I am still poor at. And I didn't have a filter on the lens. Good point about the luminosity; I often forget to apply the tool. I'll post one of the other shots after they've gotten somepp.

I was in the car with the window rolled down. He was about 15' away munching the grass when he lifted his head. At the time I am not sure whether I was more anxious or excited. Since I in a very fixed location (carbound) most of the shots I got made them look like heaps of hide in the grass and I wasn't able to get good points of view.
