Rained most of yesterday but cleared by evening, so I hiked to the ridge behind my quarters and watched the sun go down. As it got dark, to the east, a major thunder-boomer began building so, having already paid admission, I watched that show for a while, too.
Absolutely beautiful! Those last two are amazing !!!
Beautiful, moody images, Stephen, with color to die for...
Breathtaking! Suspense builds as the story unfolds. And since you were able to post the shots, you survived
I had never given much thought to Guantanamo's climate, but how interesting to know it's desert.
That last one is really awesome.
Thanks deer2ker! I enjoyed the show!

Glad you liked 'em Mike- THANKS!
The color was awesome, Donna, more of a midnight blue and, believe it or not, a lighter tint of midnight. Not really like the lighter, cerulean like blue that was recorded and I couldn't duplicate. But, it was a very nice evening... but mosquitos, gnats and maybe vultures were eating me alive! Thank you Donna!

Yup, survived just fine Linda; I was sitting next to my lucky antenna! The storm was rapidly expanding - and moved out of my unobstructed angle of view- that's when I headed for the house. Trouble is, lightning ruins your night vision so coming down the trail in the dark wasn't much fun... and picked up a few cactus needles.
Guantanamo is like much of Mexico- ancient sea bed; lots of sand, small rocks and lots and lots of coral and doesn't hold water very well. In fact, despite Guantanamo's excellent bay, there was never much of a settlement here. There's one well, "Cuzco Well" and it's not particularly productive. Castro cut off the water and electricity supply to the Naval base back in 1964 so, we've a big desalinization plant instead. The climate is hot but, drier than New Orleans and doesn't rain much. Thanks Linda for looking in!
