Went out early to the blind to beat the heat, I almost did. Was set up for hummers when I saw this large bird land around 65 feet from me. Focused the Canon 6Dii wth the Canon L 100-400 Vii and a Canon L TC 1.4 Viii. Expecting a crow was surprised to see the Coopers Hawk on the ground and feeding. I was using a tripod with remote shutter. All details will be with each photo. ALL C&C is welcome. The first photo was used to aid identification.

Earl, thank you for the great comment. I got real lucky this morning both for the Hawk and for his prey.

Beautiful shots of a beautiful bird, Greg! I think maybe your hawk could be a Red-shouldered though.

Donna, first I thank you for your comments. I see the way both hawks look a lot alike and both are common in my area. In my book they look almost identical. What am I missing? You know me, always want to learn.

You're not missing anything, Greg, and I could very well be missing something myself. I was mainly going by the prey, the bird's feathered legs, heavy body and broad tail.
