Hack, cough , cough , wheeze, cough, hack. The smoke we just had here in NW Washington made breathing difficult and my eyes burned for over a week. I stayed indoors with an air purifier running and shot the orange skies through the windows. (I got no photos worth keeping though.) The tall fir trees 200 ft away were not sharp due to the haze and smoke and didn't even make a good silhouette against the orange sky. The smoke was so thick that the sun's orb was easily viewable without squinting.

Last year in September I went up to Boise and McCall to take pictures, and the day I left, the smoke poured in all over the west. I still got some good pictures but it required a lot of effort with LR and PS. I am going again this year in September, and I hear there is smoke up there this year too, but I will look for opportunities to take sunset pictures like this.
